SSEA Continues the Review the Reasons of Larger Wind Turbines Development (Cost Analysis)

As reviewed before, the increase of the size/power rating is due to the need to further reduce the wind energy cost. The analysis given by European wind industries (BWEA and DWIA) show that the cost of wind energy mainly includes the cost of wind turbine (64%), civil work (13%) and electrical infrastructure (8%). The turbine foundation cost, which amounts to a large part of the wind turbine cost and the total cost, is independent of the size of wind turbines. Moreover, the cost of electrical infrastructure also does not change with the wind turbine rating. Therefore, the cost of energy per unit of larger wind turbines is lower.

Green-energy Buildings at Shanghai World Expo

"Science & Tech Expo" "Eco Expo" are the logos of preparation work for Shanghai World Expo. The ongoing constructions in the park have used a number of latest technology, new ideas, renewable energy, and new materials. By doing this, the expo tries to create an ideal eco environment with blue sky, clear water and vast vegetation, highlighting its theme "better city ,better life".

Portuguese Wave Power Station

Portugal is going to use the world's first commercial sized wave power station. In recent years Portugal has made the best of its long coastline and sufficient sunlight to develop sustainable energy. A little earlier, the Portuguese Prime Minister José Sócrates improved the target of the renewable energy generation from 39% to 45%. The station is located 3 miles off the the northern coast, with three generating sets called "sea snakes", which are designed by the Scottish company Pelamis Wave Power.
